International genealogical index and batch numbers

I have used the IGI for years and have saved records such as

hastwell faraday births.xlsx

Now when I click on the link I get a 404 message. I don't seem to be able to find any of the records either. I also can't use batch numbers any more. I get the same error message. It was great before. What has happened.

How do I do a search for "Margaret Hastwell Gender: Female Birth Date: abt 1764 Christening Date: 1764 Christening Place: Mallerstang, Westmorland, England" This was a record I had previously found on Family Search site. (She is the mother of Michael Faraday. )

Thank you so much it explains a lot. It's a shame my spreadsheets don't work anymore as I have really big files with all the data I have collected over the years. Ces't la vie.

However, I just realised this does not include the actual christening event to which you refer. The part of the IGI which covers the Extraction program should be searchable from https://www.familysearch.org/search/, but realise this produces no results for you, either.

Update - I also notice, from looking at that page, that the batch for Mallerstang is only shown as covering christenings for the 1774-1779 period, so would not include your 1764 event.

Thanks for your help. It sort of answers my question insofar as you have managed to find the records for Margaret Hastwell. I still can't make my links work from my excel files without a 404 error coming up. Also unfortunatly the batch numbers still come up with a 404 error code. It is such a shame as I used to scroll through all the records putting them into an excel file and then working my way through them decide which records was for my family. I understand that there is now a drop down box for IGI and will do some more searching.

Thanks for that obviously all my links were before the changes were made hence them not working any more. I managed to do a general search using wild cards and found various Hastwells.

I assume that the recent changes are also why Hugh Wallis's batch numbers database no longer work as well.

The articles you were referred to probably cover what I am going to comment on, but I'll mention a few things anyway.

With the 2012 updates to FamilySearch, the IGI was separated into its pre-existing parts, the community indexed records and the patron submitted records. The community indexed records became the various historical record databases. The patron submitted records became the IGI you find under Genealogies.

Batch numbers have been preserved and work just fine as long as you use them in the right place.

To take an example from the database @Paul W referred, I'll take the first batch number I see: C155511 which is christening for Ambleside for 1795-1876. I go to the main Search page, click More Options, and set up my search like this:

Notice that the only thing I put in was the batch number. The search results are that entire batch.

You can narrow down the results from here while remaining in this batch.

The reason none of your links work, is that shortly after getting all the IGI records into suitable historical record database, such as putting this batch for Amblside in the England Births and Christenings 1538-1975, they were all given Archival Resource Key (ark) URLs ( see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archival_Resource_Key ) which are supposedly permanent and will never change again. (Said in a voice heavy with skepticism). Apparently they were not able to create or maintain a translation table for the older, non-permanent URLs.

However, your spreadsheet has so much information in it that I hope you will be able to recreate your original searches fairly efficiently.
