Bug on new computer generated U.S. census edit feature
I used to be able to edit names, incorrect dates and places on the U.S. Indian censuses easily, and most of the time I still can. However, the new edit feature that is now taking over the old edit function is putting the "birth date" as the "census date!" It sure makes for busy work on fixing something that was not a problem before the new uploaded system.

@Nancy Thornton_3 Would you please provide us with a URL to one of the U.S. Indian censuses that is showing the birth date as the census date? It would help us know how best to assist.

this census is actually dated June 30, 1922.

To repeat, the census year is written as the birth year on the new edit feature, on many U.S. Indian censuses.

@Nancy Thornton_3 Thank you. That was just exactly what I needed. I see what you mean. When you click to edit the index, the census date in the editing tool is showing the person's birth year as the census date. Here is how you can report this directly to the group that can fix it. On that screen that the edit feature takes you to (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-L9W4-G8YD?view=index&personArk=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AQGR8-44DJ&action=view&groupId=TH-1942-32632-6251-39 is an example), look on the left margin of your screen for a white button that says Feedback. Click it. You'll have to click one of the faces to indicate your level of frustration and then you can give the details about the error and submit it. This is the quickest way to get these problem into the hands of the folks who can fix things. Here is a screen shot of the button you will need to click:

I very much appreciate the idea, but I have been correcting the census date for the ones I find, and do not want to waste time looking for a tech to change the date for me. If I don't change it when I see it, I carry the error forward, waiting, as a manner of speaking. If I do change the date, then the tech won't know what I am talking about. Maybe, if I can see a pattern to it, for example, all the same census year is messed up, then I will do feedback with what the "big picture" of the bug is. I'm not happy with the new edit feature for its cumbersome process, and so I want to keep my irritation with it to a minimum, even tho I did a shout-out about it for help in the first place. LOL
