Oral histories for temple ordinance submission

Am I understanding correctly? When I check the oral histories of Zimbabwe, dates are estimated if they cannot be located through existing archives. Many members have oral histories that extend back at least four generations. They are writing down the information in "My Family." Estimated dates based oral histories may be used for temple ordinance submissions. Correct?
