What information is required to do temple ordinances for my ancestors?

Your ancestor’s person page needs the following information before you can request his or her temple ordinances. The information makes your ancestor’s person page unique and sets it apart from other profiles in our database.
Name
- Complete names are preferred.
- If you do not know the full name, a partial name is acceptable.
- For a female, use the maiden name.
Sex
- The sex must be marked male or female.
Death
- The life status must be marked as deceased.
Standardized date for at least one life event
- A standardized date must be selected for one of the following life events: birth, christening, marriage, death, or burial.
- At a minimum, the date must include the year.
Standardized place for at least one life event
- A standardized place must be selected for one of the following life events: birth, christening, marriage, death, or burial. This can be the same event associated with the standardized date or a different event.
- At a minimum, the place must include the country.
Additional information for sealings
When sealing a child to his or her parents, keep the following requirements in mind:
- You will need the name and sex of each parent.
- You will need information regarding each parent’s death.
- This information must be properly recorded in Family Tree before you can request the ordinance.
When sealing spouses, keep the following requirements in mind:
- You will need the name and sex of each spouse.
- You will need a standardized date and standardized place for a life event for each individual. A life event is a birth, christening, marriage, death, or burial.
- The standardized date and standardized place can be for the same event or different events.
