how to index the word "late" in UK, England, Cumberland—Parish Registers, 1590–1960

I was asked about indexing the word "late" in the snip below:

So I found  https://www.archives.norfolk.gov.uk/help-with-your-research/family-history/parishes-and-churches/parish-registers/reading-and-interpreting-registers - under common terms used in parish registers, it says: Late [surname] spinster - Clergymen sometimes included the mother’s maiden name in register entries, such as Jane Jones, late Smith, spinster.  In this example, index parents' surnames as Jno Abbott and Mary Dobson.     You would index the mother's surname as Dobson Abbot per the field help:

    Maiden names should be typed in this field before the current or former surnames. A maiden name was often indicated by the words "née," "late," or "born as." A maiden name may also have been written in parentheses.
