Screen space using portrait pedigree

My first impression is that I like landscape pedigrees much better. I can get them to legibly show many generations at once, so I can start the tree and find my ancestor in a few clicks. The alternative is to find the person page first and then the tree, which takes me longer in most cases.

Suggestion 1

A good feature of the portrait view of the tree is to be able to keep the tree in view while also editing the person page. However you can only view one person at a time. I like being able to view someone's person page that also shows children, parents and cousins and to go back and forth when editing.

To get the best of the two alternatives, I suggest that when you go to a person page from either of the pedigree views, the screen shows the pedigree view to the left using the smallest possible width to show just to person for which a person page is to be displayed. Then, most of the screen can be dedicated to displaying the 3 generation person page. For going back to the pedigree view you can have the user click on the portion that is still displayed.

Suggestion 2

I recommend that there be a way to turn off the portrait icons in the portrait view of the tree, the way as it already displayed in the landscape view. The icons serve no useful purpose in finding information on your ancestors and just take up space. That way you could see more generations of ancestors in the portrait view of the tree

Suggestion 1 can largely be accomplished by using your browser tab feature (open browser tabs to the pages you like). You could even split your Computer screen -using resize/drag or OS command (some OS allow tiling of open windows/screen splitting) - such that these tabs are available in the view you request (pedigree tab at left, person page tab at right).

Suggestion 2 I think has been suggested before. I wouldn't mind removing the portrait icons and maybe instead just have blue/pink header.

Sorry I'm on phone or I would show screenshots for these Suggestions.
