why source record index does not show event year correctly?

"Maryland, Church Records, 1668-1995," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QGLJ-DMSF : 8 March 2021),

It is logical that if the title says records for 1668-1995, then when a year is listed only as "18", I would assume either 1718 or 1818 or 1918 or any year in 1800s since it fits within the date range. Please do not put 2018 which is very apparently truly wrong. For the above record, and I would guess more, please correct the year properly. Is there no source that would show it on the pages completed for the correct year (sometimes the year is only at the beginning of the year) or a record that is more reliable?

That looks like some kind of automated post-processing routine since no human would make that error. It takes a computer to mess up that badly.
