This person is showing confidential even though birth and death dates are shown. There is no reason for it. I am the original and only contributor to this person. I and a larger family group research this line and the confidential marking for my eyes only is hindering our combined ability to fulfil our family responsibility to this individual and her family. Please advise on what I must do to unlock the so-called confidentiality mark. Thank you.

This has happened to me, usually due to the person's birth or death place. Usually I then choose to delete the profile and try not to accidentally create it again.

A woman who left no known mark born in Latvia and died in Israel. Not sure why FamilySearch wants to be so secretive.

It's a good idea never to enter a location anywhere in the Middle East on FamilySearch. The bot will eventually come along and make the profile confidential if you do.

I removed the Middle East location and placed it as a note only, but unfortunately that did not solve the problem. Perhaps once FS creates the confidential flag, there is no removing it by the patron. Not sure what they are thinking in this regard. Thanks, though, for the suggestion.

It apparently takes a (human) employee's involvement to remove the flag, and I'm not sure how one is supposed to get such a person's attention. The user workaround is to delete the "offending" profile entirely and re-create it from scratch, omitting the triggering location (except from notes or reason statements, where the bot doesn't look).
