"there was an error - please refresh page"
A deceased person in my family tree I have been working on, recently had a document detached (which I had originally attached if I remember rightly). Now, when I wanted to contact the user who detached this document and clicked on the user´s nametag, it tells me, "oops, something went wrong" - now, today, as I wanted to look at the aforementioned deceased relative again, it is impossible to open the details - the page jumps very quickly to "oops, something went wrong, please refresh page" - I can view the sources and memories, alright, but not the main part with name, birth date, descendants etc. What happened?
Greetings from the Black Forest, Rachel

I'll See what I can do. I contacted a support missionary in Europe. Thanks.

Hi Rachel - Welcome to FamilySearch Community and posting your question about a person page. It would really help if you could provide the PID for the person you are trying to look at. Thanks.

Hello Wayland - Thank you so much for your reply! This is the PID: G4DH-TFF (Wilhelm Otto Klaus)

Oy: it's doing the same thing for me, too. The details page almost fully loads, but after a few seconds, it switches to the gray "oops" message. I edited the URL to go to his sources page instead (https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/sources/G4DH-TFF), and that works, as do his "about", "collaborate", and "memories" tabs, but his details are inaccessible.
His tree views all seem to work, so maybe whatever's wrong could be fixed that way? But it seems unlikely. I think you need an FS engineer's or programmer's help with this. @Wayland K Adams, are you able to forward this to someone who can fix it, or is there some other contact method that Rachel should use?

Yes, I can see the same problem. I can and will take the proper steps to get this investigated and repaired. No estimate on the time frame.

Oh! The problem is somewhere in the new layout: if you go to one of his other tabs and switch to the old version, then the details page works.
There's something weird in his changelog (https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/changelog/G4DH-TFF): there's an entry on Dec. 28 with no attribution.
I don't much work with Memories, so I have no idea what this means.

Suggestion: make a couple more edits to his profile. (Add and detach a source, for example.) This should push that unattributed change out of his "latest changes" box, since it only shows 3. If that change is the source of the problem, then his details page should become usable again.
But we still need a programmer's attention: how on Earth does a change lose its contributor like that?

Hello Wayland and Julia,
Thank you so, so much for looking into this! I agree, there is something rather odd with this person - as I had arleady written, I had attached a source - a link to the marriage entry, I think - and someone detached it, but this person does not seem to exist - when I want to contact him/her, it tells me, this person is non-existant. At the same time, this source does not show in the groom´s changelog, but in the bride´s changelog, it is still there.
I will now wait patiently and see if anyone can make my ancestor reappear :) Thank you so much again!

Rachel - you are welcome, just leave the page the way it is so those investigating can see the problem. Don't make any changes. Thanks so much for letting us know.

@Julia Szent-Györgyi They won't let me forward this on from North America. Can you do it?

I'm just a lowly mortal with no special powers, and I'm in North America, too.... (Not that that should make one iota of difference, on the technical end, but I'm sure FS has its reasons for setting up Support the way they have.) Is there a way for Rachel to get this escalated?

This is now being handled by the European Family Search Support team and will get to the right place to be fixed. Thanks for all the input.

Thank you, thank you!

The problem continues. I can see his old details page but not his new details page.
While we wait for a fix, @RachelFritsch1 to attach a source you may want to use a Source Box rather than a Memory. At the top of the Sources list click + Add Source. In the pop-up menu select Attach From Source Box. In your Source Box, click Create Source. Etc.

To all on this chat Please do not make any changes to the record and try to do work arounds. It is important to leave the record alone so those working the problem can see it. Making changes may mask the problem or make it disappear. Please do not make changes.

@dontiknowyou - Thank you for the tip! I usually do both - attach the link in sources and sometimes a screenshot of this particular churchbook entry in memories which I find quite helpful when it shows the correct spelling of the last name - I rather frequently come across incorrectly transcribed last names.
