Ward Member wishes to be sealed to grandparents

Advice please. A ward member does not know who her father was. She was very close to her grandparents who raised her (not officially adopted) and wants to be sealed to them. I am 95% sure that is ok - add herself as adopted to grandparents to be sealed to them. Am I correct?

Hi Julie Welcome to FamilySearch Community and asking your question about sealing to grandparents. In many cases it is acceptable for a child to be sealed to grandparents. But since this would be a live sealing, the ward member would be advised to speak with her bishop about this matter. If the decision is to proceed, then she could add herself as a child of her grandparents for purpose of printing out a family group sheet to take to the temple. Just be aware that ordinance cards for live ordinances are never provided by Family Search and are not needed for live ordinances. Hope this answers your question.

She will need to call the temple ahead of time to make an appointment for her Living ordinance. They will advise her of all the requirements at that time. If she was not officially Adopted by the grandparents I would choose “Guardianship” as the relationship type.
