Matrilinear/Patrilinear Line Detection Tool

Might FamilySearch develop a tree-view type of tool that could help a user conduct a search to find a possible living relative with a direct matrilineal or patrilineal line to a shared ancestor? Seems like it could be fairly easy to do, and would be very useful for pinpointing fruitful directions for potential genetic testing. It would need to work in both directions. For example, if I find an ancestral line, following one gender, from one of my forebears to a more distant ancestor, can I work back along that same gender line to a contemporary relative who would qualify for patrilinear or matrilinear testing to that same distant ancestor. That would be great, in the very likely case that my own lineage back to that ancestor crisscrosses gender, defeating my own chance for confirming my genetic connection.
