Printing temple cards

The temple no longer returns the cards when temple work is done, which causes confusion for those of us who are printing cards and disbursing them among family members to do the temple ordinances. It makes the cards that include all of the ordinances on them obsolete.

It would help us a great deal if the program would print the cards separately. We need separate cards for:

  1. baptism, confirmation and ordination
  2. initiatory & endowment (we'd have to print twice, unless you can think of a better way)
  3. sealing to parents
  4. sealing to spouse

Before you answer that I can already use the individual "ordinances ready" tab, I have tried this, but the program does not offer me all available people that way. It always offers just a few.

Baptisms, initiatory work, and sealings are done in large batches and in different areas of the temple. Cards should be redesigned to reflect this reality.

Thank you.

Carol, you are spot on! I performed baptisms on Thursday and I'm having a terrible time reprinting them for initiatory. And I can say I know familysearch.org pretty well. We all need a tutorial on how to reprint family name cards.

I and my family print a mass amount of baptisms (and other ordinances) each week, and have no problems with what situation you are describing. Let’s say you want to print baptisms and confirmations, and only those ordinances. Simply, what you need to do is select all of the baptisms you are wanting to print, press print, and when you see the screen showing the checkboxes for all of the ordinances, just click on the initiatory box and it will uncheck the initiatory, endowment, and sealing to parents ordinances. (See picture below)

Same thing for initiatories: uncheck the endowment box and it will also uncheck the sealing to parents box as well.

Same thing for endowments: uncheck the sealing to parents box and the only thing that should be selected is endowments.

The only catch is that you cannot print, let’s say, baptisms and sealing to parents at the same time. What will happen is that if you uncheck the sealing to parents box, you will be effectively removing the sealing to parents from the list, and will have baptisms to endowments selected for printing. Same thing applies to baptisms and initiatories, and so on and so forth.

It would be a good idea here to redesign it so that you can print both sealing to parents and baptisms at the same time, but for the baptism cards, you only have baptisms and confirmations printed, and not everything. Just an idea.

    I hope this helps.

The've already fixed that. You can print them separately now and in some areas you can ask for the names back so you can pass those on.

Sorry, Brother Walker, but that's no longer true. I work in the Atlanta Georgia Temple and our training last week was that the First Presidency directive is that we are no longer giving cards back. And it seems that I have to print them separately instead of 3 per page. Wasteful and frustrating.
