HOW DO I UPLOAD/IMPORT A GEDCOM FILE

    Simple. Don't.

    Getting a GEDCOM into the fixed Genealogies section of the site is one thing but don't even try to go any further.

    If you want to add material then load things into a FSFT-compatible program like Rootsmagic and individually sync things across.

    Clumsily-performed GEDCOM imports are the source of a huge amount of junk in FSFT. There is more than enough material in there to make mass additions unhelpful.

    what the heck is an FSFT, I want to add to MY tree of My family, what the heck would I be messing up, It's my tree .

    (FSFT) FamilySearch Family Tree is ONE tree we all share.

    However, uploading a GEDCOM to keep your tree protected in case something happens, and then you can go back to it for referral--is not a bad idea.
