Names released from temple file cannot be resubmitted.

I have search for an article on this but with no success.

Is there anything written that covers this topic, i.e., gives advice on what to do if you inadvertently release names? or explains what the alternatives to releasing a name for who you which to perform some of the ordinances so that they are not released from temple file?

    H Mark Welcome to family search community and posting your question about temple ordinances. Just to be clear on nomenclature. On your temple tab you have My Reservations and shared. Shared meaning those that you have shared with the temple and assume that is what you mean by temple file. On your shared list there are two actions you can take. You can unshare or unreserve. Not sure what you mean by release. If you unshare, the ordinances are removed from your shared list and place on your my reservations list. If you unreserve, the ordinance are removed from your shared list and open to everyone to request the ordinances. They are no longer on any of your lists. If you want to take a name to the temple that is on your shared list, unshare it and then print from your my reservations list. You can search on the terms "unshare" and "unreserve" to compare the differences between the two actions. Hope this helps.

    Hi thank your prompt reply.

    I was aware of everything you wrote, thank you. But I clearly did not do a good job of writting my question. let me try again.

    Here is the message I received from a ward member, "Hi Mark, Recently someone who had a batch of names on Temple file released them and they came to me. I tried to put them back on Temple file but I'm not allowed to do so.  What would you suggest?"

    So the problem is that the names were shared with temple, then unshared. Now they cannot be resubmitted to temple file. I found articles that covered many other aspect so name submitting, sharing and reserving but none that mentioned that once a shared with temple name is unshared from temple file then it cannot be resubmitted.

    Does such an article exist?

    @Mark Peoples

    What is actually sounds like is happening is that someone has shared names with the temple and another person (your ward member) now has them reserved for the 120-day reservation. They cannot reshare the names to the temple list, since they are already on the shared temple list.

    Ask them to look at the ordinance tab on each person. If it shows two user's names, then this means that it was already shared with the temple when your ward member reserved it. Like this:

    image.png

    In this example above, I reserved it and shared it with the temple. Then another user reserved it to complete the work. The other user cannot share it with the temple again (since it is already shared with the temple).

    This Help Center article explains how it works: How long do you have to complete ordinances before reservations expire?

    "Note: When a person shares an ancestor's ordinances with the temple, those ordinances are available for other descendants to reserve. This second reservation expires in 120 days and cannot be shared. It can only be unreserved. After 120 days, the ordinance is returned to the temple, and the person who originally shared the ordinance has the option to unshare it."
