Merge Duplicate by ID
For the past few weeks I've been trying to merge my living father's two duplicate records (LNX8-R3S and LXK2-TD4) into this correct record (GF37-SDR) but I continue to get an error message that says: "There was an error reading data from the server. Please try again later." And, as stated, this has been happening for a few weeks (through Google Chrome).
I also tried this through Microsoft Edge, Google Incognito, and my wife's pc, with the same result. I tried on my mobile, but I don't get the Merge Duplicate by ID option where the Help says I should (under the three dots top right on the Details page).
Please help so I can get my 85 year-old father started for the first time in his life now that he's expressed interest.

You will be unable to merge living IDs created in different accounts' private living space during the lifetime of the person those IDs represent. This is as designed - allowing anyone to create private IDs of living persons. Unless there is a new feature of which I am unaware this has been the case since living profiles could be created.
Here is a Help Center document about this:
The Merge by ID document does not mention this - which could be misleading...

Thank you very much! It would be much more helpful if the app would simply reply with a similar error msg instead of what it provides that does not help the user at all.

Mod note - @tylerwalton1 Thank you for bringing this to our attention. A message has been sent to the creators of that article for a possible update. Please also see https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/why-do-merges-fail-in-family-tree
