Display of Standardized Values of Dates and Places
As can be seen in other areas of the community boards, there is still massive confusion out there about the use and meaning of standardized versions of dates and places that are linked to the dates and places displayed on a person's detail page. Currently the only place to see the linked standardized version is in the tool tip that appears when hovering over data on the detail page or by opening the Edit Data pop up.
The tool tip takes a while to show up and the font is very small. The Edit Data pop up always risks that someone will be encouraged to change data that does not need to be changed.
I think it would be very useful to show how the displayed data is linked to the standardized version of the correct displayed data in the new View Data box. This would help people better understand the two part data storage of dates and places, make it easier to see the translated version of the standardized version when that is needed, and discourage people from editing good data just because it does not look exactly like the standard.
Here are three examples of how I would think this would work best in three different situations:
I don't think I'd want to see the standardized values on the actual Detail's page, however, although I think I have suggested that before. Having them in the easily opened View Data box is sufficient for double checking what a foreign language term is and for proof-reading standards while reinforcing the concept that the Display Data does not need to be the same as the Standardized Data.
