New temple card format and size changes
I noticed several changes to the temple cards that I would like to understand better:
1) card size change
2) listing death date instead of birth date on individual card
3) smaller fonts, much harder to see
I see that the size of temple cards was changed from 3.25"x5" to approximately 3.125"x4.875"? I mention approximately because they are actually not that size even though the instructions say that is the full size dimensions.
It would be nice if the new cards were the same size as the old cards so that they can line up in a stack better. It also makes it much harder to count a stack of cards when they are not all the same size. It seems the size change was intentional, since the instructions list the new size (approximately...).
Why the intentional change when it makes it harder for patrons and workers to stack and count the temple cards? This creates a risk for recording and tracking.
Can the card size be changed back to the standard 3.25"x5" that has been used for at least 20 years?
Why is the death date the date shown on this card? The old format card shows the birth date (I have both a new and old card, and the birth date is available on that person's PID.
Birth date is a more standard way to identify someone than death date.
Fonts highlighted in yellow are much smaller on the new cards than they were on the old cards. That makes them harder to see, especially for older people. Can the font sizes be increased?
