Protocol for name on headstone.
My wife recently passed away and I am in the process of getting a headstone for the plot we had purchased. I plan on listing her name using her maiden name.
My name will be engraved at the same time. My mother divorced and remarried when I was about 10 years old. Our stepfather later adopted we children and therefore took I took his family name. However, as the family genealogist, I appreciate the value of leaving clues when possible and would like to list my biological family name as well as my adopted family name.
Something like this: James R (Kessel) Schutt
The title name on the headstone will be SCHUTT
Does this form sound right. I don't recall ever seeing this done.
Insights anyone?
Thanks.

Thank you for posting your question to FamilySearch Community. I agree with Dennis. I'm not aware of any protocol that covers your question. Formulate the headstone the way you wish to, and in the way that reflects how you identify yourself and your position in the family. No-one can have any problem with what you propose.
Kind Regards,
John L. Kennedy.
