What does "50" mean as a declared date of birth?
I have a batch of baptism documents ready to index, but there's one thing I just can't make sense of. The baptism was performed in 1936, but under "declared date of birth", all there is is just "50." There's no 50th day or month. 1950 makes no sense. 1850 is possible, but it would make the person being baptized pretty old, and there is another person on the list whose declared date of birth is "38". If he or she was baptized in 1936, that would make him or her 98 years old.
Is 1850 what the 50 means? I'm just confused.

If you look at the reference image +1 you will see that sometimes there is a date listed and sometimes a number. on that image it says 2years for one person and 22 years for another. This leads me to believe that these are the ages of these individuals when they were baptized. Reference image -3 and - 4 have similar examples.

Please show your batch number so we can look at what you are looking at. The batch number is at the end of the batch name such as
[xxxx-xxx].

I don't see anything in any of the instructions that would address your question. Maybe someone with more experience with these type of records than I could help out. If all else fails you could return the batch and try a different one.

I imagine those are the ages also, in which case you wouldn't index that number. They were all baptized on the same day by the same person. They're most likely Christian converts.
