Should "Free" be indexed as Colored, or as Free?

I just noticed that that heading says "Colored" and within that heading, there is a "Free" and "Slave" subheading. From this I assume I should mark all "Free" as "Colored."

In the Field Help for Color or Race I found this: " If the color or race is not found in the drop-down list, type what you see."

Since it is better to not assume it should be typed in as 'Free'.

Since the header says Colored, then the race is marked as Colored - just like the example How to Index a Birth Register, Enslaved Person.
