Tioga land records.

US, New York, Tioga County—Index to Land Records, Grantors, 1630–1975 [Part A] [M3Y6-MV2]

M3Y6-MV2

Some groups of records are labelled as 1867-8-9 (for example) for the year. Which year should I use?

I wonder if 1867-8-9 - couldn't also be the month and day or day and month - so the year would be the first listed - 1867?

Either way - I'd probably just list 1867 - since that is the only four digit year know 'for sure'.

Thank you for your question @HornickJohnAllen1.

In the Project Instructions under What to Remember about This Project, bullet point 17 says, "If a range of years or multiple dates were recorded, type the most recent date."

Per these directions, for a date range such as 1867-8-9, you would index 1869.

Thank you so much for volunteering your time to indexing, and making sure these important records are indexed correctly.
