1950 Census title change
I'm starting to see more cases where I can now attach the 1950 US Census record to individuals in FamilySearch. It is super exciting!
I just have one suggestion: Could you please align the title of the 1950 US Census records to match that of the other census records? For example, have the title read "United States Census, 1950" instead of its current status of "United States 1950 Census."
I often group all the census records in numerical order on the sources page of an individual and then I can see if there are any that are missing, and I easily know if there are any missing that I need to dig deeper for. It is easy to scroll through attached records and pick out the census records by looking for the year at the end of the title and then rearrange/sort them, however, I've found it's harder to quickly identify if the 1950 US Census is attached to someone because that year is not at the end of the title like every other census record.
I hope something can be done to stick with consistency and help it to be easier to identify when sifting through 20-30 attached sources of an individual to see whether the 1950 census has already been attached. See the screenshot example of a source page below.
In Record Search, if I enter "United States Census," in the Collection Title field, the results are filtered to show each decennial census entry in sequence, EXCEPT FOR THE 1950 CENSUS!
The 1950 U.S. Federal Census has the collection title "United States 1950 Census".
Please change the collection title for the 1950 U.S. Federal Census to be consistent with the other U.S. Federal Census collection titles.0
The 1950 U.S. Census as a "source" to attach in Family Search is coming up empty 50% of the time.
The source appears, the attachment comes up empty of any 1950 Census information. When a new person is created from the Census data it briefly shows the 1950 Census location information on the left, but once the person is created and ready to attach the source, all the source 1950 information disappears.
This happens time and again, and only with the 1950 U.S. Census.
If one wants to attach the 1950 Census data, one must open the "Record", write down the information, then manually enter it for each person for the family of interest. Actually way too much work for what it is worth. The source remains attached to the individuals, but there is no entry appearing for the 1950 U.S. Census anywhere in the displayed Record of each individual.0
Hi @Richard George Reynolds. Can you share the ID of someone or the record link to one of these instances so we can see? Thanks.0
YES! please fix the 1950 Census to be titled the same as all the other United States Censuses:0
Seriously, please do this soon. It triggers my OCD anxiety every single time.0
@Maile L In 1959 US Census it appears there might be some mixture of old image viewer with older Edit and new image viewer with new 'edit every field' editor occurring. The new viewer needs to have the person Essential Information index showing (so the person selected in the image) before using ATTACH TO TREE button - in order to bring up Source Linker successfully.0
