On the Family Tree person page (on the FamilySearch website), different icons appear next to the the names of places to indicate how and whether the place is standardized.
· Pin: The place is standardized. The user-entered place-name is identical to the standard.
· No pin: The place is standardized. The user-entered place-name contains additional information, has used a historically correct alternate spelling, or is in a different format than the standard. The user has attached a standard with less information or with a different alternate spelling to the user entered place-name.
Red exclamation point: The place is not standardized.

If the place name is correct and looks like a standardized place name and has a red exclamation point there is no need to change the place name. Put the curser at the end of the place name and enter a space with the space bar. A standardized place name or more than one place name will appear in the next line. You can choose the one that is the most correct.

I have been having to correct all 1920 Summit, Ohio Censuses. It is a common standardization, 1920 Summit, Ohio, United States, but everyone is coming up with a red exclamation mark.

When you correct a place name and you do not select the place name that is listed below the line that you just corrected it will come up with a red exclamation mark if you just enter the line that you just corrected.
This does not sound logical it is just the way the system works.

Don't think that I should have to correct at all. The source-linker is bringing over the Summit, Ohio, United States as a residence, and it should automatically be corrected, or standardized when it is added as a 1920 residence in "Other Information." Computers are to help make less work, not more work. A County, and a State, is a very simple residence address, and should easily be handled by a computer. I should not have to correct anything with just a simple residence address. Time and time again, I have had to correct this simple residence address, in "Other Information," while working in Ohio genealogy.
