Can the "temple opportunities" features be verified?

I recently answered this email to FamilySearch. I felt I should pass it on.
I recently accepted a Temple Opportunity to do Initiatory, Endowment and Sealing to Parents of Sarah Ince 9X7Y-286. Foolishly, I did not check this was a valid submission, which I usually do, and just accepted she was related to me and I must have overlooked her. I now discover, (having just completed her endowment) that she is a duplicate of Sarah Ann Ince ,MZHT-Y9W, whose Temple work I have already completed, and for whom FS had added a christening source, which confirms her full name. I am kicking myself for wasting time doing unnecessary ordinances, when there is so much valid work needs doing. I should haver checked it all out. But Family Search, there must be lots of less experienced patrons accepting these Temple Opportunities offering what turn out to be duplicates, without knowing they need to check, thus adding to the already existing problem of duplicated submissions. I think the Temple Opportunity feature needs to be reviewed in light of this. PLEASE ! Kind regards, Christine Chadwick

I echo Christine's feelings. I've learned by experience that even if a name has green ordinance icons, I still need to check it carefully to make sure it's 1) not a duplicate, 2) hasn't been incorrectly merged, and 3) that dates, places, and relationships are consistent and correct.
I'm not talking about exhaustive research or perfectionism, just common sense and sanity checking.
In case anyone is interested, I'm teaching an online class about verifying names for temple work (it's part of our Basic series at the BYU Family History Library). It's currently scheduled for Sunday, August 14, 2022, at 2:00 pm mountain time. Everyone is welcome, and no registration is needed. The Zoom link is on this page.
