On NY Index to Land Records, how do I list both husband and wife as land grantor?

You should share the batch code to get the best answer. This is the series of letters and number in brackets after the project title.

But, when there are two or more names of grantors or grantees, then the project instructions say to create a separate entry for each individual.

    • If multiple grantors were listed for a single transaction, index information about each one using separate entries in the data entry area.
    • If multiple grantees were listed for a single transaction, index information about each one using separate entries in the data entry area.

If the entry just says "and wife", then you would not create a second record. It must have her given name to quality for a record.

You can always pull the project instructions up by clicking on the last icon on the toolbar. There are a lot of things to remember when indexing these land grant records!

We have seen some of these records indexed with the name of the husband and wife on the same entry. Please do not do that. They will need separate entries as Melissa has answered.
