How do I get just baptisms and confirmations when requesting ordinances from Family Search

When I find some ordinances that need to be done and have been shared with the temple, not through Ordinances Ready, how do I reserve just specific ordinances? If I have to reserve all of them, how do I send back the ordinances I can't do?

I've found some baptisms from ancestors but when I try to reserve just baptisms and confirmations, I also have to reserve the initiatory, endowment, and sealings. Those I am not able to do and there is only 90 days to complete them.

    Hello Sister Ellis,

Thank you for contacting FamilySearch Support about your question relating to how you may choose just baptisms and confirmations when requesting ordinances from Family Search.

    ·        For each person you want to specify particular ordinances for, go to their person page.

    ·        Click on the Ordinances tab.

    ·        Click on the big blue Request button at the top of the list.

    ·        This will show that all ordinances have been reserved, but follow these steps and you can select only those ordinances you wish to do/share.

    ·        Go to My Reservations. On the top right, type in the name or ID of the person.

    ·        The screen will show you summary information about the person.

    ·        On the top right, click on Filter.

    ·        Scroll down the options until you reach Filter by Ordinance.

    ·        Deselect all ordinances except Baptism & Confirmation.

    ·        Click the box to the left of the person's name to Print.

    ·        You may now take these ordinances to the temple.

If you cannot complete the ordinances within a few weeks, you can share them with the temple or others.

Unreserving an ancestor's ordinances removes his or her name from your family names list. Unreserved ordinances become available for other people to reserve. This can be a great blessing for people wanting to perform temple ordinances for their ancestors.

After you have reserved a person's ordinances, you can also unreserve from within Family Tree:

    ·        In Family Tree, display the person page of the person whose ordinances you want to unreserve.

    ·        Click Ordinances.

    ·        Click Unreserve.

If the check box is not available, one of the following has occurred:

    ·        You have shared the ordinance with the temple, and the temple has already printed it for another temple patron to do.

    ·        The ordinance has been shared with a family group, and a group member has reserved it.

    ·        The ordinance has already been given to someone through Ordinances Ready.

    ·        Family Tree had duplicate records about this person. Someone else reserved the ordinances for the duplicate record. After the duplicates were reserved, the other member has the reservation.

    ·        Review the list, and click the check box of any family name card that you want to keep.

    ·        Click Unreserve.

Note: Instead of unreserving an ordinance, you could instead share it with the temple. The temple will distribute the name card to someone who comes to the temple without his or her own family name.
