Reprinting of temple ordinance cards
I have organized a Temple Group in my extended family for help with the ordinances created by my research. They can be accessed by family members and taken to the temples all over the world.
The problem we are having:
For the first ordinances, B and C, the card shows as green. It is printed. Easy to identify. Card not returned after B and C done.
For I, E, SP the reservation says the card has been printed, NOT that this is a reprint for the same person so the other ordinances can be done. Thus, when nephew in Chile looks for a name for initiatory, they all show “printed” telling him that someone else has printed the ordinance he wants to do. However, the fact is that the B and C triggered the "printed" designation, and the card needs to be "reprinted", but nothing tells the nephew no one else has "reprinted" it for the initiatory.
Can’t the ordinances on the reservation list revert to green in color after an ordinance is recorded, so available ordinances can easily be identified and picked up by another family member? That nephew does the Initiatory, it is recorded, and the reservation list reverts to green again for E and SP for that person, indicating they are needed.
In that way, all the people using the same list can figure out what is available for the ordinance wanted. And when they print the card again, the other ordinances turn grey, telling others someone is working on that card and it has been printed, until the ordinance is recorded, then grey reverts to green.
I currently spend many hours each month making lists of people, which the computer could easily do automatically when ordinances are completed.
My family has become very active in getting ordinance work done, over 1000 ordinances completed in 6 months; but I have robbed hours of my research time with figuring out for them which ones are “really” available, and the next ordinance has not been printed by someone else yesterday!
Solving this issue would also avoid duplication of effort, as cousin in California prints a card, and another in Utah prints the same person’s card for endowment. And they both do it!
If there is another solution for this problem, I have not found it in FamilySearch. We need something to indicate that the card has been reprinted for each ordinance, so duplication is not a problem.
Thank you for help with this issue,
Sharlee, you are so right! And now that the new policy is that we don't get our cards back, it's so much more complicated ! I too spent a couple of hours trying to reprint cards for initiatory ordinances after performing the baptisms last week. We need a tutorial !!1
YES! This is a very important issue!0

For now, the best course of action is to train everyone in the group to only print the ordinances one is intending to do:
It is also very helpful to teach everyone how to use the reservation list filters. In particular the Perform Next filter.2
This problem (caused by the temple keeping ordinance cards) has been brought up many times.
I do not understand why this has not been addressed yet.0
