Errors on my mom’s 1950 census entry
Her gender is wrong, her birthplace is wrong. Her brother (who was 9 at the time) is listed as a widower. These are AI errors - I looked at the original and it’s legible to me. When I click Edit on the census record, these aren’t fields that are available for editing. How do I correct them?

@Melissa W Morse, I'm so sorry! How frustrating for you. When the 1950 Census for the state is completed with the review process we would hope that these issues were corrected. But if I am understanding you correctly, you are looking at a state that has been published? You said you click on "Edit" and couldn't edit those fields. You should be able to "Edit" the birth place. The gender is not able to edit and also the marital status does not have the ability to edit. In those cases, if they weren't corrected in the review process, if you have "attached" the record to FamilySearch, then you will just need to write notes with the attachment to explain to others the errors.

@AndLinda, Do I understand from this that the four fields that come up when you click Edit (Name, Event Date, Event Place, Birthplace) are the only ones that can be corrected? If a person's age, for example, has been incorrectly transcribed it will just remain wrong forever?

@Richard Heritage, correct, there are only certain fields that can be changed. Unless they open it up to correct more fields. That would be a good thing to do feedback on, to be able to edit all fields. Below is a screenshot of the URL to put a correction on the document. (Where you highlight the document to do the corrections.)
Also is a screenshot of FamilySearch after attaching the document and what can be edited.
I hope this explains what you are asking about. I also hope that we can have more fields that can be edited for FamilySearch; otherwise, good notes in our records would be vital . Feedback please.
Having said all of this, we do need to remember that those researching will be able to always see what is on the original document.
