I need help about requesting ordinances for a friend who was a baptised member of the church. I would like to do his temple ordinances that he requested before passing
The General Handbook has this advice:
"When submitting names for proxy temple ordinances, members should generally submit only the names of persons to whom they are related" (General Handbook: Serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 126.96.36.199).
Before you can request proxy temple ordinances for a friend to whom you are unrelated, you must submit signed permission from a close living relative of your friend.
A close living relative is an undivorced spouse (the spouse to whom the individual was married at the time of death), an adult child, a parent, or sibling. Please see the Church’s General Handbook, 188.8.131.52.
You can find this advice in the Help Centre here:
Hi The answer given above is correct. Here is how you can proceed. You can reply with the name and ID of person you want to do the ordinances for including any other information you consider important. During the review process you will be asked to provide signed written person from a close living relative. A close living relative is an undivorced spouse (the spouse to whom the individual was married at the time of death), an adult child, a parent, or sibling. You can see an example of the written permission at this link
Once you have submitted the permission as requested, the review process will be completed and you will be informed as to whether or not you can do the ordinances. Thanks, hope this helps clarify the steps you can take. Please let know if we can be of further assistance
