Notification settings are not being obeyed
I am supposedly unsubscribed from notifications from FamilySearch about everything except user messages:
And yet, I recently got the "timeline for your great-grandfather" email, and this morning, I got a Discoveries email:
Same as with the timeline message, I clicked "unsubscribe" at the bottom of the email, and got the same "Unsubscribe Successful" screen again:
As can be seen from the top screenshot, I should not have needed to unsubscribe from My Ancestors. I was supposedly already unsubscribed. So then why did I get this email? Is this yet another instance of FamilySearch's use of English not matching the rest of the world's? So far, I've concluded that in FS parlance, "exact" and "standardize" have totally different definitions from mine. Do I need to add "unsubscribed" to the list?

I have experienced a similar case. I, too, am not subscribed to anything but user messages, but just received an email about "free, printable family trees".
Unlike Julia's case I am currently shown as subscribed to receiving email messages, for all categories, but I have changed nothing (although I'm about to) and have only previously received emails regarding my receiving messages from other users.
Would a moderator please pass this issue to the appropriate section for investigation.

The problem still exists. Today's email greeted me with news about my (nonexistent) Civil War relatives.
(My immigrant ancestors are my parents. The U.S. Civil War is completely and utterly irrelevant to my relatives.)
Once again, I checked my settings before clicking anything in the email, and they're still showing exactly what's in my first screenshot in my original post: "FamilySearch Information" off, "Discoveries about My Ancestors" off.
So then I clicked "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of the email, and got a different Unsubscribe Successful screen.
"Inspirational Messages"? There isn't even a setting for that, what the heck?!

The problem still exists: this morning I was greeted with a "Discover memories of your grandmother" email.
Clicking "Unsubscribe" in the message resulted in an "Unsubscribe Successful - My Ancestors" confirmation screen.
Again, I wasn't subscribed to "My Ancestors", or to any communications from FamilySearch not coming from its users. I should not have needed to unsubscribe.
WHY am I still getting these emails?
