Skipping a Vacant Household is Erasing Surname of Previous Household
When doing Family Review, occasionally, a vacant household will highlight the surname field from the previous household.
When I choose "Skip Household" and mark the household as vacant, however, all of the surnames of the previous household vanish from the index.
There is no way to go back, so I've been leaving Feedback to explain the issue when I run into it.
How should I handle this issue?
a. Continue to send in Feedback each time this happens to explain the issue.
b. Use "Skip Household" but select "Another reason" and describe the issue (instead of "Entire household is 'Vacant'...")
c. Just keep using "Skip Household" and not worry about the missing surnames from the previous household
d. Something else

@MinnWisRoots, thank you for those comments. Very good instructions to just do Feedback and not try to make corrections for those types of things. Engineers need to know this is happening so it can be corrected. Thanks again!
@WilldenCalebRussell1, yes please do Feedback by selecting Skip Household and you can click "another" and describe fully what is happening in the box provided. Thank you for the screenshots! Keep up the great work!

I'm glad you posted this.
After I saw your post, I noticed this happened to me as well. I tried to reselect the household whose surname got deleted to see if I could reenter the surname. Unfortunately, it now shows up as "Missing Field." So, once it has happened all you can do is send a Feedback report to have the surname reinput.
To prevent the deletion:
The next time I came across a "Vacant "or "No one at home" row with a surname in it, instead of selecting Skipping Household right away, I went through the Review process until I came to the Name portion and replaced the Surname with "Vacant" (or whatever words are in the field that aren't the previous household's surname). Then, I selected Skip Household. This is some additional work on our end, but less time sending Feedback reports.
Hopefully the engineers can fix the problem on their end.

My Personal Experience Update:
My prevention suggestion no longer seems to be working when the Surname is highlighted! Sigh! At least it's not in Oregon.
So, instead, I'm NOT changing the Vacant/No One Home Field and just sending a Skip Household-Other message with "Surname Split Line Deletion Error!" listing the rows involved. That way the surname stays with the household it should.
Also, in the Name Review, I have stopped using the Skip Household-Entire Household is Vacant option. If you get overlapping lines, especially Vacant ones, you might accidentally delete a surname above or below and get the "Missing Field" in Family Review.
