There was no way to enter the surname of an individual because it said the field was missing.

    @McFarland-Family

    Hi If this is a question about the 1950 Census, please post it at the forum link below, and please be specific (i.e. reviewing Names or reviewing Families, etc.)

    https://community.familysearch.org/en/categories/1950-us-census

    If this is a question about conventional indexing, please post your batch's Batch Code (Help>Share Batch) so that someone can look at it and perhaps help you.

    Thanks.

    I think it is the 1950 Census. I just had one that was the same. I clicked on Feedback, selected the appropriate bubble to click and then provided a detailed response.

    If you do as Melissa S Himes suggests it will go to a team to review and add missing names if needed. Any time something is messed up, like a missing field, please be sure to report the issue so it can be fixed!

    @McFarland-Family The next time this happens, you need to use the feedback button on the actual image to report the problems with the particular image. I have reviewed 182 families and have sent feedback in on at least 10 images that had some sort of issues. Missing surnames, lines out of order, something that I didn't know how to handle (the names at the bottom that were copied from somewhere else (n=2), and a mistake I made during the review that I couldn't correct.

    If possible, add an option to add a name to replace a "missing field" when the field isn't actually missing. Let the reviewers to the work instead of someone at FamilySearch.

    Apparently they have found it to be a problem that can't be immediately repaired. As of June 10th there was a comment in the 1950 Census Community Group that they will be adding a line to check off when you send feedback to let them know that the surnames are missing. Currently, there is a line that you can note the names are missing from the index.
