Question about the algorithm for calculating relationships (blood vs. by marriage)
My wife may be related to the famous architect Walter Burley Griffin (also the one-time chief assistant to Frank Lloyd Wright). Walter's father George is listed as her 9th cousin, 4 times removed, which would make Walter her 10th cousin, 3 times removed. However, when I "View My Relationship" to Walter's profile, it lists him as the husband of his wife and fellow architect Marion Mahony, to whom my wife is also related as an 11th cousin once removed. Why did the system choose the more distant relationship by marriage over the closer blood relationship?
