Please help me with a Source Review.

I'm not sure if a source I'm reviewing goes with my great-grandparents. I'm not ready to say it does or it doesn't. So I don't want to accept it or reject it. What should I do? Is there someone more familiar with these things that can check into it and discuss it with me.

Is there a way to attach the source as a possibility rather than a sure thing?

I would add a Note to each affected profile explaining the uncertainty. Either attach the source, or provide its URL in the Note.

Uncertainty is the norm, not the exception.

Think about how you might resolve the uncertainty. Improve the profiles of the nearest family members? Work on profiles of unrelated same-name persons? Consult records not on FamilySearch?

In response to the questions you ask in your June 8, 2022 comment:

I would add a Note under the Collaborate tab (on the web; on the mobile app there is no Collaborate tab and Notes are on the Details page).

A note also can be added to each attached source.

When in doubt about a profile or relationship on Family Tree, I work hard to find and attach more sources. That often resolves the uncertainty.

When in doubt about whether a historical record relates to a person, I usually follow the FamilySearch recommendation to create a new profile and attach the historical record to it. When in doubt, make a (possible) duplicate. In general, merging duplicate profiles is far easier than splitting conflated profiles.

Thank you for your response. Now I have a couple resulting questions (and I'm sorry for my ignorance; I'm new):

1. When you say add a note -- do you mean in the "collaborate" section? Or is there a way to attach a note to the actual source in the source section? I guess, when I go to attach a source, I'll learn about that part, but still, I would like to know what you meant by adding a note. :)
2. Your comment "uncertainty is the norm, not the exception" -- first, that was enlightening, so thank you. And second, would you say then that when in doubt a source should always be added rather than not (as long as a note is made)?
