Different ID numbers for same person

When I access the Family Tree App on my phone my husband's name has a different ID number than the number that shows up on his phone's Family Tree App.

That is normal. Because living persons are in your Private Living Space in Family Tree - the ID showing when you login will be different than the ID showing when they login (their Private Space for living persons is separate from your Private Space for living persons). This is as designed. Essentially this means there are two different people/IDs in the Tree (that will need to be merged when a living person passes on) - that represent one actual living person. Some people consider having two different IDs for living persons a problem - but merging them is not too big of an issue either (once deceased - merging has improved over past iterations in my opinion).

But, he can't see our childrens' families which are connected to his other ID in Family Search. I can see them in the app. And my ID number in the app is the same as it is on Family Search and connected to him (but not to the ID number in his app). I'm confused!

The Living Person IDs you created in your account will be visibile only by you. The Living Person IDs your husband creates in his account will only be visible by him. If you have multiple accounts - the Private Living Space will be different for each and so you will see different Private Living Space Person IDs in each account. Perhaps a few FamilySearch Help Center documents will help you understand FamilySearch Family Tree Person IDs and Private Living Spaces better:

I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
Just in passing ...
Further to; and, in support of, what 'genthusiast' has already proffered ...
Just my take ...
We CANNOT ,'see'; or, 'access', the 'FamilySearch Person identifier' (PID), of ANOTHER "Living" User/Patron ...
And, NOT even, IMMEDIATE Family members (ie. Parents; Spouse; Children; etc ) ...
Each Family member, has to have a "Living" DUPLICATE (ie. a "Copy") of EVERY Other "Living" Family member, in the "Private Spaces", of their OWN 'FamilySearch' Account.
ie.
I know, that there are "Duplicates", of the "Living" ME - at least, one for my Wife and each of our Children, not to mention my ALL other ("Living") extended Family members (and, Relatives), who have a 'FamilySearch' Account.
So ...
That Said ...
When you are WITH another ("Living") User/Patron, be-it a Family member or not, looking at/in THEIR 'FamilySearch' Account, ...
Even though you can 'see' that THEY have a particular 'FamilySearch Person Identifier' (PID) in THEIR 'FamilySearch' Account; and, also, the SAME, for Other "Living" Family members ...
You, will NOT be able to 'see', that PID, for the other User/Patrons, in/through YOUR 'FamilySearch' Account ...
NOR, will you be able to USE, that PID for the other User/Patrons, in/through YOUR 'FamilySearch' Account ...
For ("Living") Users/Patrons of "Family Tree' of 'FamilySearch' (including yourself) their PID is, unique to them; and, can ONLY bee 'seen' by them, in THEIR 'FamilySearch' Account ...
"Living" Users/Patrons, of "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch', ARE just like, in fact, just the SAME as, "Living" individuals/persons, in the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch', that are recorded in our "Private Spaces", of our individual/personal 'FamilySearch' Accounts - they can ONLY be, 'seen'; and, 'accessed', by the User/Patron, who created them; or, in case of a "Living" User/Patron, by themselves.
As such ...
For "Living" Users/Patrons, just like "Living" individuals/persons, we HAVE to "Create" a ("Living") DUPLIACTE of them, in OUR own respective 'FamilySearch' Accounts, in other words, within our respective, "Ancestral" Lines, in "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch'.
And ..,
That said ...
'Yes' ... they WILL be DUPLIACTES ... but, that is O.K.; and, a necessary feature, for the "Privacy", of the "Living".
Basically ...
You; and, your ("Living") Family members (and, even, extended Family/Relatives) have to "Build" a "Bridge", of the "Living" individuals/persons, (ie. As, "Living", DUPLICATES) that connect/link you all together, in your respective 'FamilySearch' Accounts ...
Once, you; and, your ("Living") Family members (and, extended Family/Relatives) have ALL "Built" that "Bridge", of the "Living" individuals/persons (As "Living" DUPLICATES) that connect/link you, ALL together; then, when you ALL, come to your FIRST Common "Deceased" Ancestor, your "Ancestral" Lines will connect/link together into one ...
That is WHY, you 'see', DIFFERENT, 'FamilySearch Person identifiers' (PIDs) for your, Husband; and, Children ...
BECAUSE ...
You are 'looking', in/through THEIR Own 'FamilySearch' Account; and, NOT, yours.
Those of us (who are "Living"), with BIG "Families", WILL be "Duplicated" [and, with DIFFERENT, 'FamilySearch Person identifiers' (PIDs)], MANY times over, in the various 'FamilySearch' Accounts, of OTHER "Living" Users/Patrons ...
I hope this may also help/assist, somewhat.
Brett
