Bad Family Group invite by "Email" button

When you go to invite members the Share/"Email" button either never works or works off and on for different members. (For my wife first it didn't work, then it did. Now today, it didn't work for me, nor for a family search missionary, but it did for a tech.)

"about:blank" is what comes up.

When you choose the email option, the software will try to launch the email program that you have installed on your device (like Outlook, etc.). If you don't use an email program on your device, you will get the error message. You can copy the link and send it to those you want to invite to the group via your own web based email, social media, text, etc.

    @Haydn

    FYI

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]

    Just in passing ...

'Yes', there can be (and, in fact, are), SIGNIFICANT, Problems/Issues, "Inviting" people to "Family Groups" ...

There are MANY "Various" RESAONS for such ...

    [ It is very had to address/fix ... ]

    As an aside ...

    For me, personally ...

When, I go, to "Invite", new members, to a "Family Group" ...

    eg.

    image.png

It is NOT a matter, of the "System", working, sometimes; and, not others ...

    Even ...

IF, one, DOES NOT have, an "Email" Client/Programme, associated with one's Computer ...

[ ie. More so (and, rather) than a "Mobile" Device ... ]

One MUST wait, for quite a few Moments (ie. Some Time), for the "HTML Messaging" Feature to appear ...

Eventually, when it DOES appear ...

This is what I ALWAYS get:

    image.png

    Now ...

    That Said ...

When, I have used the above, there are DIFFERENT results ...

    eg.

    Sometimes, the User/Patron ...

    (1) Gets the "E-mail", WITH the "Link", to the "Family Group" ... [ All GOOD, in this one .... NOT a Problem/Issue ]

    (2) Gets the "E-mail", WITHOUT the "Link", to the "Family Group" ... [ Problem/Issue ]

    (3) DOES NOT get, the "E-mail", at all, period ... ... [ Problem/Issue ]

    And ...

What makes matters worse, it that, there DOES NOT, seem to be any pattern; as, to WHY ...

    Nowadays ...

I DO NOT use, the "Invite", in/through "Family Groups" ...

I just send, a DIRECT "Email", to Users/Patrons, with the "Link", to the "Family Group" ...

[ Which, in fact, is an ACTUAL "Invite", to "Join" the particular "Family Group" ... ]

And, I advise the User/Patron, that to "Use" that "Link", that they must be "Signed Into", their 'FamilySearch' Account, in the particular "Browser", that they are using, for that "Link" to work.

    Just my thoughts.

    Good Luck.

I know, that this certainly may not help/assist; but, I hope, that this may provide you with, some additional, insight; and, perspective; and, another avenue to pursue.

    Brett
