Ordinances Ready is selecting people not related to me from a Family Group Shared Reservation List

Ordinances Ready is selecting people I'm NOT related to when reserving a temple ordinance and I know why it's happening. I recently joined a large family group and one of the group members shared a lot of ordinances with the family group. I believe Ordinances Ready is selecting from that family group reservation list. Almost every shared name in the family group isn't related to me. Do I need to leave the Family Group in order to have Ordinances Ready select names from my own family lines?

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]

    Just in passing ...

Please be, aware; and, advised, that ...

It's NOT just, from "Family Groups" ...

    ie.

    ALSO, from one's ...

    • Your ward. These are names that members of your ward shared with the temple.
    • Your stake. These are names that members of your stake shared with the temple.
    • Names not related to you that have been shared with the temple.  [ If no ordinances are available from other sources ...

Here is a "Knowledge Article", in 'FamilySearch":

Where does Ordinances Ready get names?

    https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/where-does-ordinances-ready-get-names

    Now ...

    That Said ...

I would humbly venture to suggest, that TEMPORARILY "Leaving", the "Family Group", may certainly help.

    [ ie. Somewhat ... ]

    Because ...

Of course, you CAN easily request, to be invited, to "Re-Join" the "Family Group", if needs be ...

I know, that this certainly may not help/assist; but, I hope, that this may provide you with, some additional, insight; and, perspective; and, another avenue to pursue.

    You are correct.

As the article Brett posted says, the first three places Ordinances Ready looks, in order, are:

    • Your family names list (or "temple list" or "reservation list").
    • Family names that you shared with a family group.
    • Family names that have been shared with a family group that you belong to.

So if your personal reservation list is empty and you have not shared any names with that family group, then all the ordinances you will get will be names that other people shared with that family group. The entire purpose of a family group is to help everyone in the group complete ordinances for their ancestors.

The family groups are just a modern version of the ward and stake boxes that used to sit in the temple office. You can also view them as equivalent to someone standing up in Priesthood meeting and saying, "Brethren, I've got this stack of cards here that I need help with, please, can some of you take some of these for me?"

If you would never have taken a card from your ward box and if you never would have taken some of those cards in Priesthood meeting, then you should probably leave the family group.

Pulling names off the list of names you have shared with the temple is the fourth place Ordinances Ready looks.
