Why are WWII draft cards so hard to search now?

I pulled up the WWII draft card search. Typed in surname Jenkins, and entered Texas. I got 38 results. 8 of those were for surname Jenkins in Texas, the other 30 were from other states. So, I hop on over to ancestry and type in the same 2 things, Jenkins and Texas and there are 619 results. This is another example of how the latest version of "search" is impossible! On ancestry, I see the exact name I am looking for, but don't have a subscription and want to find the free record on familysearch. It is impossible.

@dar barber, Could tell us what WW II draft registration collection you were searching in FamilySearch, or how you were searching for these draft registration cards.
