Work for a recently deceased adoptive father
I have tried twice to get the Temple work underway for my recently deceased step-father. Raymond Eldon Maret 15 September 1930 – 24 November 2021 • LKTF-HV5 First time the system told me that I needed permission to do the work for him, because I am not a descendant of his. This is patently false. I am his legally adopted son, with full legal rights to his name and estate.
The second time I tried, just less than a week ago, it still said I need permission, but this time not because I was not considered his legal son. I assume, though it was not specified, that it was because the system says he has not been dead long enough. According to the Church News, we only have to wait now for 30 days, not 1 year. And yet, it still will not let me do any ordinances. Any thoughts?

I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]
Just in passing ...
'Yes' ...
You are CORRECT ...
The "Waiting" Period, has been "Reduced", from x1 Year, to x30 Days ...
We were advised, of such, on 20 April 2022; but, were ASLO advised, that "... it will take us about 10 days to recalculate all of the existing "Not Ready" ordinance statuses in Family Tree ...".
I would humbly suggest, that the "about x10 Days" was ONLY an estimate; and, it may take just a little longer, for ALL those "Not Ready" 'Ordinance' statuses in the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch', to be "Changed".
Therefore, I would humbly suggest, that you give things a little longer to be "Processed"; and, keep trying, on a regular basis; hopefully, it should not be too much longer.
[ Of course, granted, easier said, than done ... ]
Here are some "Knowledge Articles", in 'FamilySearch':
Ordinances are listed as "Not Ready" even though the 30-day waiting period is past
https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/30-day-waiting-period-is-past
And ...
How do I perform ordinances for my deceased, immediate family members?
Plus ...
From the 'FamilySearch' "Blog":
Update: April 20, 2022—Reduced Waiting Period

Good Luck.
I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat.

Hello @maretcurtisdavid1
I think you are unable to request the ordinances for Raymond because on Family Tree there is no relationship between you and him.
The record for Raymond does not have a marriage date to Doris. If you are a son of Doris, because there is no relationship between Doris and Raymond, Family Tree does recognise a relationship between you and Raymond. Adding a marriage date for Doris and Raymond would rectify this.
Alternatively, you could add your relationship to Raymond to be an adopted child.
This knowledge article may be helpful https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-specify-biological-step-adopted-and-foster-relationships-in-family-tree
The reduced waiting time has been programmed into FamilySearch. Last week, I was able to request the ordinances for my great uncle who died last Christmas day.
I hope you find this information useful.
