Re: Liechtenstein. How to I acquire a full copy or surname portions of "Vaduzer Familienchronik; Die
I was given a few pages of this document for the surname Boss (Boss I pages 83-90). The cover sheets indicate there are sections for additional Boss books/pages, as well as other surnames. The two index pages I have go as far as the surname Dressel. I assume there are more for additional surnames. The other verbiage on the cover sheet is: Eigenverlag Gemeinde Vaduz. There is a faint handwritten note: Vaduz 2002. The text is all in German so I'm not really sure what I have except that my immigrant ancestor's name (Andreas Boss) is on page 89, his son on page 90. Page 89 lists both of Andreas' wives and several children, all with dates, but no column headings. There are notations next to each wife's name such as Katharina Laternser (Ic, 9) and Maria Anna Katharina Dressel (II, 1) Going through the pages in reverse order I get Andreas' ancestry all the way back to David Boss (ca. 1590) and Margareth Senn.
Under their names is written: Im Legerbuch von 1584 sind noch keine Boss erwahnt. Dafür stehen in den Untertanenlisten von 1718 die Vettern David (I, 3) und Ignatius Boss (IV, 3) und deren Söhne,
I would appreciate your thoughts on what I have and on how to get more. Thank you very much.

Addendum:
I once found a Family Book in the FHL stacks for Balzers, Liechtenstein. That was several years ago when I visited the FHL and the Balzers book was the only one the library owned (at that time). It may be one of a set of 11.
The pages I have do not look like the pages in the Balzers book. So I am not sure if the pages I have are actually from the Vaduz book in this set.
I later found a website that lists Family Books for 11 locations in Liechtenstein, which seems to include the book for Balsers and I think the 2002 book for Vaduz which it states is 9 volumes and 2000 pages. I cannot see anywhere on the webpage instructions for acquiring said books. I assume that would be pricey. There doesn't seem to be an historical or genealogical society in Liechtenstein. The web address for the list of Family Books is: https://kunden.eye.ch/swissgen/FL/flname-m.htm.
As best as I can determine, the list of books includes the surnames contained in each book. If true, then I would need access to most of the books.
I tried finding the books on WorldCat.org but wasn't able to find any, but that could just be my lack of experience with WorldCat.
Again, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Elizabeth

This title was published in 2002. It consists of 9 volumes published in 10 physical volumes because volume 9 is in 2 parts.
Here is a link to the contents of each of the volumes:
https://doc1.bibliothek.li/aaf/FLMA119690.pdf
The Boss family appears in volume 1 and there are tables for the Boss family in volume 9, part 1.
I checked "World Cat" online for this title and the only libraries I found that hold this title are in Europe.
Here is a link for the Liechtenstein State Library:
https://www.landesbibliothek.li/
Down in the lower right corner of the home page is an e-mail address. I would suggest you send the State Library an e-mail and ask them if they know where you could purchase at least the two volumes you are interested in. You can send your e-mail in English as most Europeans speak English.
Another option would be to hire a genealogist in Liechtenstein who could go to the State Library and copy the pages you need.
You may also try some used online books sites to see if anyone is selling used copies of this title.
And yes, all of these options will probably be expensive.

Here's another link you should read if you haven't done so already:

Use your browser's translate function to translate to English.

Hello Elisabeth,
You are very welcome! I believe you are the first person to ask about Liechtenstein on this blog. I visited Liechtenstein many years ago -- it's a beautiful little country. Hope you have success in getting access to that set of books or that the names come online in the very near future.
