Reporting the death of an inactive church member

I'm helping a sister whose brother died last November. He was baptized/confirmed as a child but was inactive at the time of his death. The sister recorded his death on FamilyTree but he does not appearing as a duplicate with ordinance information. She would like to have the remaining individual ordinances done. What does she need to do?

Hi Linda,
Has the brother's membership record been amended to say that he is deceased? This will need to be done by the ward clerk before any further work can be done for him. With the waiting period now reduced to 30 days there shouldn't be any issues with merging the records and completing the ordinances, but post again if there are any further issues.
Kind regards,
Barry

Since he had been inactive for quite some time and was rather transient (lived off the grid) I'm guessing his membership records hadn't followed him to where he was living when he died. Is there a department to contact at church headquarters that would be able to assist with this?
