indexing military discharges - duplicate names
on this military discharge page there are 6 listings, one after the other, for what looks like the same person. Same given name, surname, service, discharge day, mo and yr BUT it does show 6 different "record book and page" references. I don't see any instructions covering this.
there was one duplicate on a previous record that I decided to just enter twice and get on with it; but, that was only one line duplicate and this one has SIX!
What is the consensus about this in the absence of any definite instruction in the project instructions or general indexing guidelines. I can see that this will occur in the future as well.

Since you are not indexing the record book or page number, you only need to create one entry for the sailor. The researcher will see that there are 6 entries when they find the image on a name search.
If you do enter 6 entries that are exactly the same, the system will delete 5 of them when you submit the batch.

Thanks - glad to know the "behind the scenes"; although, I've done a couple of these before I had this big 6 named one. On them I just entered both names and I have to say that I didn't get any "error message" from the quality checker. If it deleted them, then it did it after the "confetti party" and I didn't see it.

You won't get any error message, @Robert R Jarrett . The only way you will notice what happened is when you look at the entries bar. If it said 1 of 27, with a name duplicated 6 times, after it is submitted and confetti is falling it will say 1 of 21. Or you can check your indexing total before submitting a batch and then after submitting the batch see that you didn't get credit for 27 entries, but only for 21 entries.
If a duplicate name is not in consecutive order, the system does not recognize it and it would not be deleted. So, if there is a John Smith followed by 4 different names and then another John Smith - neither one are deleted. (Hope that makes sense). You'll notice what happens if you want to try it on your next batch with duplicates!
