1950 Census Name Review

In reviewing names for the 1950 Census, for a name it will say "vacant", and the automatic indexing just put a dash. Do we just click match for the dash, or do we type in a dash?

Also I've seen "no one home" indexed as Thomas or some other name. Obviously, we need to change it from Thomas, but do we type in "no one home", which could cause the program to think "no one home" is the name, or is there something else to do to show there's not a name there?

If you are indexing on a computer there is a button to the right of the Match, Edit, Unsure buttons that looks like a flag and has the words "Transcription Error". Click on the flag and you will see some choices. I would mark Vacant or not at home as "Not a Name". You could also mark an actual dash as Blank

If you are indexing on your phone or mobile device the flag is just above the Unsure button, but your only choices are "Not a Person" or "Incorrect Highlight".
