1950 Census
I am a Stake Temple and Family History Consultant. I am also a Ward Temple and Family History Consultant. I was looking forward to the 1950 census coming out and getting members of my ward and stake involved.
I tried working on some of the 1950 Census. I found that it is not interesting to work on as the 1940 census was.
I am very disappointed with how it is being done. I do not like that I have to start by chosing a last name. I do not like that it does not review all of the last names of families.

@Steven Bunting I'm sorry to hear you are disappointed! It is definitely different than the 1940 census. It really is incredible what they were able to do through technology though. The census is basically indexed and only needs to be reviewed. The computer actually indexed the information. This is an incredible accomplishment!
I want to make sure I understand what you don't like. You are asked to select a state but not a last name. The system selects 20 names to be reviewed. It should include any first and last names found on the sheet. If there are last names on the sheet, they should all be reviewed. Can you help me understand what you meant? We are also keeping an eye out for bugs in the system, so any info you can provide will help. 🙂
As to involving your ward/stake...there are many who will really like the simple approach taken with this review. I would still share it with them and let them decide if they want to participate.

To add to Sam's comments - Reviewing Names is only the first step. Soon additional review types of Family Review and Header Review will allow us to correct the entire index.

You don't have to choose a last name. That is optional.
