Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]
Just in passing ...
I Child cannot be "Sealed" to just one Parent alone.
Here is a "Knowledge Article", in 'FamilySearch':
Can a child be sealed to parents when one of the parent’s names is unknown?
IF, the Child's Father, is "Unknown"; THEN, ...
IF, the Child's Mother either, was "Married"; and/or, later "Married"; and/or, was in a "Relationship" with a Man; and, the Child was "Part", of any one of those "Relationships"; as, a Child; THEN, the Child can be "Sealed", to their ("Biological") Mother; and, that Man.
Whereas ...
Failing, any such "Relationships"; as, in the aforementioned ...
The Child, can be "Sealed", to their "Maternal" Grandparents; so that, the Child is connected with the Family.
ie. Their Mother; and, her Parents and Ancestors.
To "Seal" a Child, to their Grandparents, one must setup a "Parent-Child" Relationship, between, the Child; and, their Grandparents; where, the "Type" of "Parent-Child" Relationship is "Guardianship".
This "Type" of "Parent-Child" Relationship is simple to enabling the "Sealing" of the Child to their Ancestors.
The "Type" of "Parent-Child" Relationship is ALWAYS "Retained"; but, is ONLY for "Temple" Work".
