COLUMBUS HENRY CARLIN
I did a search on my father. His birth year is incorrect. I have his baptism record. It has his correct year 1905. I tried to index it but it did not allow me to. Why???

Hi Susan,
I think I understand better now what your issue is. I have found the record to which you are referring to..
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QJNT-K9BF
Unfortunately for this record, there is no image attached, so it is difficult to see if this is a indexing error or if the wrong year was written on the original document (which does happen to often).
At the moment this collection is not editable and so you are unable to change the birth date on the record.
In your family tree however, on your fathers record, you can add both the baptism record and this record as sources, with a note that this record is showing the incorrect date. In family tree the correct date can be shown and edited. The more sources you can add to each record the better.
This explains how to add historical records to your source box :

Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
Just in passing ...
Question: WHAT; and, WHERE, are you trying to "Change", the "Birth" details of your Father ...
ie.
▬ The "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch', for an individual/person; or,
▬ The "Discovery Pages", in 'Ancestors.FamilySearch" [ .org ]; or,
▬ A "Record" in the Records in 'FamilySearch' (eg. a "Source")
▬ OR, somewhere else
Please advise/clarify.
'Thank You', in advance.
Brett
ps: IF, it is an individual/person, in the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch'; THEN, what is their 'Family Search Person Identifier' (PID) - ie. the x7 Digit (Alpha/Numeric) UNIQUE identifier eg. xxxx-xxx
.

I could not find that identifying #.
Why is this so difficult?
And I searched for a specific address in1950 censes once. Then I tried again for a different address and couldn't???? So I quit! Will try again later????

SUZIEQ88 I have attached 2 screen shots of my great great grandfather. In one of them (the one showing his wife in the pedigree view), I have highlighted with yellow the ID number that is very important to give with your questions so people can assist you more thoroughly. After clicking on his name in the pedigree view, you can see the details view. The other screen shot shows his birth information under "vitals" when you click on "edit" (highlighted in yellow) and change his birth date. Make sure your baptism source has the "birth" tag checked, and then it will be associated with the birth information in Vitals.

But, where are you actually 'seeing' this "Birth" record for your Father that is INCORRECT?
ie. On that "1950, Census of the United States of America"?
OR, somewhere else?
eg.
▬ The "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch', for an individual/person; or,
▬ The "Discovery Pages", in 'Ancestors.FamilySearch" [ .org ]; or,
▬ A "Record" in the Records in 'FamilySearch' (eg. a "Source")
