Someone entered my Grandfather's Father and it is partially wrong. How would I clarify that?

Someone entered my Grandfather's Father and it is partially wrong. They entered my Grandfathers adopted Fathers Name not Biological Father. How would I clarify that?

One way/alternative ...

In the "Vitals" Section ...

Name = Birth Name - ie. with 'Family Name'/'Surname'; as, per "Birth".

In the "Other Information" Section ...

Alternate Name = Adopted Name - ie. with 'Family Name'/'Surname'; as, per "Adoption".

It depends what you want to change. If you need to edit personal information such as their name, birth, etc. you can go to the person’s profile page and click on the details tab. Click the blue “Edit” link to edit the information you want to change. If you need to edit a relationship, scroll down until you see his family members. Click on the little icon that looks like a pencil and paper and then remove or replace the person that is incorrect.

some additional thoughts...

Presentation or edits might really depend on the sources and the circumstances if there is a belief of biological vs. adoption or guardian type relationship. If you get stuck, maybe leave the actual personal i.d. so that others can view the sources and/or notes and provide suggestions.

A couple other random options:

-link BOTH father profile names and change relationship appropriately to "biological" on one and "adopted" on the other if that is where the sources lead.

-if others also get tripped up in the 2 father name "duels" at sharing sites like Ancestry.com etc, you might also use the Notes and/or life sketch to outline what the sources suggest in an attempt to leverage the single profile as a "dispute" settlement discussion point.

-if sources support, add both names in either vital and/or alternate names so the computer can help you find other sources and or reduce duplicates when other users join the collaboration and seek out the shared ancestor in the future if both surnames were used. Also, if not doing yet and new to the site, practice leaving appropriate source focused reasons for all your "adds" and "edit" so the next person can weigh the found sources to date.
