to FSInfo,

I just received this email message, entitled "See your Father in the 1950's" from you. When I opened up the link to my father's page, it contained the following summary notices:

The Life Summary of Bruno

When Mr. Bruno Kaiser was born on 7 November 1904, in Straßburg, Alsace-Lorraine, Germany, his father, Joseph Kaiser, was 34 and his mother, Martha Weil, was 23. He married Julie -Wolf on 11 January 1932, in Grevenmacher, Grevenmacher, Luxembourg. They were the parents of at least 1 son. He died in October 1989, in New York, United States, at the age of 84.

These notices contain an error of omission which needs to be corrected:.

Bruno and Julie Kaiser had two sons, not one as listed. You did not mention their first son, Robert Kaiser, who was born in 1934.

I am that non-listed child and am informing you that I do exist. Please correct your records accordingly

The Discovery Page is a public experience and does not show information for living persons. Since you are living, your information will not be shown.

    RobertKaiser1,

    random thoughts.

Yes, it is acceptable to add a narrative without naming living individuals, in the "Notes" section on one or both of your parents as a workaround. This would help tell your "parents story" without stepping over the privacy of living boundary.

In some rare situations, I do this same "privatizing" step, very normal, at Ancestry.com, Findagrave and here at the FS Family Tree. (All 3 platform shares same spirit/approach on the living).

E.g: "Ted and Norma were proud parents of 3 children, one son James died 1965, and an additional two sons still living as of date of this writing".

Another suggestion, many patrons/users use the reason field narrative fields profusely, to personalize their entry contributions on the family tree and as a results, leave future pointer "breadcrumbs" for the next generation linking family members. E.g. LK19-28M your father birth name field could be updated to delete the "Mr." title. In your reason statement directly under the name in the edit field "Personal knowledge and family documents, "Bruno Kaiser" is my father" or something similar.

As an aside, if you continue with the collaborative tree for honoring your family, reason fields are one of the best parts of this family tree platform IMO, use them to support the information added in the fact fields if the info isn't supported by an existing source.

    all the best

In other words, I have to die before others know I exist.

I think your legal beagles would be satisfied with the more informative phrase that Bruno and Julie also had one or more other children that are still alive.

@RobertKaiser1, the Discovery page already has weasel words: "at least 1 son".

Mother's maiden name is still the most common identity verification question used by institutions like banks, so it is extremely important for public online family trees not to show living people.

I am the last of my family. Someday I'll be gone. No family left who know really anything, or interesting about me.
