"India Births and Baptisms, 1786-1947", database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:HGV6-QPMM : 5 February 2020), Dorien Sybil Barlow, 1928.

The link above is for my mother. Although her name is spelt wrong, I can live with that, her mothers' name is completely wrong. My question is should I attach it to my mother? I am not completely familiar with all the options. I know I can save the source and come back to it later but there doesn't seem to be a link to allow me to do that.

If you know the record is for your mother and grandmother, attach it to both. There are many reasons for name spellings to vary, and you should anticipate seeing this a lot.

Definitely attach it to both. Try to find the actual image and attach that also. It's pretty easy to think this was a indexing error. I can easily picture Ivy when written in cursive looking like Joy, depending on who was doing the writing. But you never know until you check. Maybe the clerk misread something and the actual record really does say Joy. If the record does say Joy, then you can add a note to the source to say that even though this record says Joy, from all other sources you know it is actually Ivy. Or if it is an indexing error, you can make a note of that. You can never document too much.

As you attach more and more records to a person, the precise details may become a bit fuzzy regarding dates and spelling, but the overall picture of who that person actually was becomes solidified.
