How to index "child" or "maid" on a passenger list

I am working on indexing a passenger list from an Austrailian ship. Many of the lines include the name of a person "& child" or "& 3 Children" or " & 1 maid". How should I handle indexing for the children and maid?

    It is always helpful to have a shared batch code so we can look at the batch to make sure we understand the problem.

    In general you do not index additional people in the line who are unnamed.

    If this is an Australian project, I have been told, only those living in Australia can index/view these projects. So once you link the batch info, give it some time for a response. :) Hopefully someone will see it who can help you.

    Hi Jason,

    If this batch is something similar to "Australia, Albany—Inward Passenger Lists, 1873–1924", then the Project Instructions state that we only index people who are named, so in your case you would not enter details for the child or maid. Check the PI on your batch to be sure.
